Social Media Policy
Our social media policy is here to guide you on how to use social media at Codeweavers. We love it when you share your social experiences and journey with us, going hiking over the weekend? Great! Let us know! We want to encourage Codeweavers staff to use social media in positive ways. Just be sure to follow the basic rules below if it includes Codeweavers and your posting it to the world ????.
Who manages Codeweavers social media accounts?
The social media accounts are run by Codeweavers communications team. If you have any ideas or want to run anything past us, please have a chat with us upstairs or email: marketing@codeweavers.net.
Approval/monitoring process
If you are posting about the company, please send a draft copy over to the Communications team by emailing marketing@codeweavers.net.
We aim to get everything back to you as soon as possible. They can also review your LinkedIn profile for you to make certain you aren’t’ inadvertently providing too much information.
The Codeweavers communications team frequently monitor social media channels to see all instances Codeweavers are mentioned. If there is something that we feel should be flagged, this will be discussed with the communication team and action will be taken based on the scenario. Monitoring is only documented if we’ve needed to take action.
Personal Profiles
If you have a personal account linked to Codeweavers or an account you created that mentions Codeweavers in the user name or profile, then please read over the guidelines below.
Content
Please be careful when writing any posts that are about or mention Codeweavers. All posts that relate to Codeweavers brand, products, events and updates should only come from the official social media accounts.
If you are posting anything which mentions Codeweavers, or work you do at Codeweavers, please first run it past the communications team, by emailing marketing@codeweavers.net
We love to hear and see updates from our staff, but make sure you follow the rules above and if you are ever unsure, just ask!
Referring to the workplace
When posting on social media, avoid leaving negative comments which are related to Codeweavers. For example ‘We are working on a really boring project at work’. Although in this scenario you are not referring to Codeweavers you are talking about your workplace in a negative way and this is not acceptable. Imagine if you didn’t realise that your post was actually public and a customer found it and realised you were talking about the project that was for them!
Referring to customers
Please do not mention Codeweavers customers in your posts on social media unless you have run this past the communications team. Many of our customers have policies in place that state that third parties and suppliers should not talk about them.
Use common sense
This may seem obvious but use common sense when deciding what to post online.
Profile pictures
When selecting or updating your profile picture on social media ensure that any Codeweavers branding is not present. Only the official company account should have the logo in the picture.
Headers
Please ensure that if you are not using any Codeweavers logos, brand imagery or illustrations in your personal account header.
General rules
Always remember that by working for Codeweavers, you are representing us and are part of our brand image, so always think twice before writing or posting anything on social media.
Behaviour on social media
When on social media it is important to take into consideration others. Just like in the office we expect staff to be respectful and friendly to each other and we expect the same when online.
Language
Please do not use any vulgar or offensive language on social media. Make sure what your saying is ethical, truthful, and decent.
Fake media
Only write about what you know. Sounds obvious but if you are writing about something you are unsure about it’s very apparent!
Training
We’ve introduced social media and communication training which all staff need to complete. This is now part of the onboarding process when a new starter joins Codeweavers. The training is hosted by a member of the communications team and is there to guide the team (very informally) on the dos and don’ts when it comes to communication and social media.
Confidential Information
Avoid posting any confidential information on social media. If the information has not been officially released by Codeweavers, don’t discuss it.
Security risks
Security is something we take very seriously and to keep you safe whilst online please follow some of our tips below.
Passwords
Ensure that all your passwords for your accounts are secure. We recommend that all staff use Keepass to create and store all of their passwords.
Links
When on social media be careful what links you are clicking or sharing and ensure it is from a reliable source.

A general rule of thumb to avoid scams over social media is to never hand over any personal or confidential information. This includes bank details, passwords or business details. If you have any concerns please get in touch with our infrastructure team.

If you noticed anything that you would consider to be a security concern on any social media network please get in touch with our infrastructure team on slack or email infrastructure@codeweavers.net.
